84 Engineering small contact wheels are perfect for many tasks, from general shaping to the sharpening of serrated knives and pipe / tube notching. Due to their size, they are also great for grinding knife choils and deburring into tight radius corners.

The small wheels are available in a ¼” & ½” (6 & 13mm) pair and a ¾” & 1” (19mm & 25mm) pair. Our wheel pairs come in a CNC machined aluminium frame to ensure optimal bearing pre-load and maintain stable tracking / alignment.

The contact wheels are CNC machined from steel billet before being coated in a newly formulated urethane compound chosen specifically for its heat-resistance and durability. The wheels are then ground concentric for a perfectly smooth vibration-free grinding experience.

To get the most out of your 84 Engineering small wheels, we recommend using together with an 84 Engineering Small Wheel Arm and Small Wheel Rest.

*Please note, due to the size of small wheels they SHOULD NOT be run at full speed on variable speed grinders. On our Shop Mate 48" and Shop Master 72" belt grinder linishers they should only be run in the slow, green zone of your speed controller to avoid premature failure.*

We recommend the use of light backed belts / abrasives ( such as J-flex) with these small wheels as heavy X and Z  weight belts do not easily bend to such a tight radius.

Small contact wheels

Ordered a set of replacement small wheels because someone, definitely not me, ran the old ones at too fast. I was very pleased with the quickness that I received them. I've ordered stuff from here in the US that took longer to get.
